How Tune Tournament works
Connect your music
Open Play → Connect Spotify or Apple Music. On the web, connecting Spotify is also your sign-in. Your library is imported and becomes the pool of contenders. Sign in with the same account you use on your phone and everything follows you.
Compare two at a time
We show you two songs head-to-head. The first plays so you can listen, then you pick the one you like more. That single click is all it takes — no scores, no stars.
A live ranking is built
Every pick feeds a transitive cascade: if you pick A over B and B over C, we already know A over C. A full ordering of your whole library emerges from a surprisingly small number of duels — the exact same engine as the mobile app.
What you can do on the web
Home launchpad
Your launchpad (/launchpad) is a grid of tiles into every feature — Import, Play, Matchups, Playlists, Tournaments, Random 20, Rankings, Insights, Leaderboard, Settings, Profile, Library, and Help.
Play & Rankings
Play opens your library with source badges (Spotify / Apple / Local) and filters. Rankings shows your songs best-first, filterable by Top N, artist, decade, or year. The now-playing bar follows you across pages.
Tournaments
Create a scoped tournament — Top N (50/100/500/all), by Artist, by Playlist, or by Decade/Year — name it, and start dueling. Finished tournaments reopen to show results, add new songs, or re-rank.
Random 20 & the daily challenge
A quick 20-song tournament drawn from your own library, weighted toward songs you haven’t rated much — great for discovery. Play the daily challenge to build a streak, or reroll a fresh set any time.
Playlists & Smart Playlists
Build playlists by hand, or create a Smart Playlist from your ranked library using combinable filters (Top-N, Artist, Genre, Decade, Year) and a #1-First / Countdown order. Smart Playlists re-sort themselves by live rank after each tournament.
Leaderboard & Matchups
The global Leaderboard ranks songs worldwide across all users. Matchups are daily 1-vs-1 votes and a weekly 20-song bracket you can play with a single click — no login needed. These public votes stay separate from your personal ranking.
Library, Insights & Exports
Library Management lets you merge split tracks and fix wrong release years. Insights (Plus) breaks down your library by decade, genre, artist, and source. Exports saves your rankings/playlists to CSV or JSON.
Profile, Appearance & Settings
Edit your details, pick a tile theme under Appearance, and manage connected accounts, your Plus subscription, and legal pages in Settings.
Tips
Tap to start audio
Browsers (especially Safari) and the Spotify SDK need a click before any sound plays, so the first track won’t auto-start — click “tap to start” or make your first pick and playback kicks in from there.
Premium plays full tracks — and feeds the global chart
A Spotify Premium or Apple Music subscriber session plays full songs and can submit “premium-verified” comparisons to the global chart. Without a subscription you still get 30-second previews and a full personal ranking — those picks just stay out of the global chart.
Your phone and the web stay in sync
Sign in with the same account on the web and on your phone and your imported library and every ranking follow you both ways. Rank on your laptop, keep going on your phone.
Fix a wrong release year
On the web, correct a year from Library → Fix Song Info. Your correction is permanent and applies everywhere — after fixing, re-rank any decade/year tournament so it picks up the change.
Only in the mobile app
A few features live only in the iOS/Android app — usually because they need your device’s hardware, files, or operating system. Your rankings still sync, so you can rank on the web and use these on your phone.

FAQ
How do I sign in on the web?
Connecting Spotify from the Play screen is itself your sign-in (Spotify PKCE → your Tune Tournament account, keyed by email). You can also sign in with email/password, Google, or Sign in with Apple. Use the same account as your phone to share your library and rankings.
Do my phone rankings show up on the web?
Yes. Sign in with the same account and your imported library and every ranking come with you. There is nothing to export or transfer.
Why do some songs only get a 30-second preview?
Full-track playback requires a Spotify Premium or Apple Music subscriber session. Without one you still build your personal ranking from previews — those comparisons just aren’t added to the global chart.
What is premium-verified?
It is our proof-of-human gate for the global chart. Only full-track playback from a Premium or subscriber session can submit a verified comparison to the shared worldwide dataset — that keeps bots and vote-stuffing out. Everyone can still build a personal ranking with previews.
Why do some songs show the wrong year?
Release-year data from the streaming services is often a reissue or compilation year, not the original. Fix it from Library → Fix Song Info; your correction is permanent.
What does Tune Tournament Plus unlock on the web?
